RIL Auditor Training

On June 4th, 2009, TFF-Indonesia completed the last step in establishing a credible framework for its ‘Forest-Market Linking Program’ by hosting a one day auditor training workshop in the Hotel Atlete, Jakarta.

RIL Auditor Training

This program combines legality, chain-of-custody, and the adoption of reduced impact logging, with a recognition protocol that has direct marketing application.  The program offers two certificates of recognition which are awarded conditional on the independent verification of compliance with the applicable standard.

Although the workshop focused on the interpretation, field verification, and reporting requirements for the RIL Criteria and Indicators as applied to the Indonesian forest concessions, a review of the legality and chain-of-custody standards rounded off the one day session.

Participant included representatives of major auditing companies as well as NGOs involved in legality verification.  Ministry of Forest participation added another significant dimension to the workshop.

TFFs forest market linking program now stands at 3 concessions (and their affiliated industries) holding the ‘RIL Verified’ certificate, and 6 concessions holding the ‘Legal Verified’ certificate, as well as an increasing number of concessions and industries rapidly approaching accreditation under this program.

Another workshop for auditors is planned in early-2011 in anticipation of a significant increase in the number of participating companies joining this program.  For more information on the TFF “Forest-Market Linking Program”,  visit www.tff-indonesia.org.
