FSC certification in Indonesia takes off !! .... TFF plays a prominent role in this emerging success story.

Six FSC certifications in 12 months counts as a stunning success!! The Borneo Initiative, which enrolled its first participants in a certification support facility in January 2010, could certainly justify its celebration of success in a ‘match making event’ held in Jakarta June 12-13th, 2012.

TFF, not particularly well known for its support of the FSC in the past, has played an increasingly significant role in the FSC success story in Indonesia. Of the six concessions now certified in Indonesia under The Borneo Initiative program, TFF takes pride in having directly assisted five of these concessions in the achievement of this goal.

But this is not the first time that TFF-Indonesia has succeeded in helping forest concessions achieve FSC certification. In 2004, TFF was contracted by Form International under a Dutch Government project aimed at developing market links between FSC certified sources in Indonesia and Wijma of Holland. Under this funding arrangement, TFF successfully guided first PT Erna Djuliawati to FSC certification in September 2005, followed a year later with the certification of PT Sari Bumi Kusuma.

The most recent successes under TBI, bring to 19 the FMUs that have achieved FSC certification in Indonesia. This represents 1,252,726 hectares with an approximate annual harvest of 1,530,174 cubic meters. In terms of area, TFF has guided 7 FMUs to this achievement representing approximately 74% of the total area certified.
